Drovers are men and women who take cattle - mainly cows but also sheep and pigs from farms to market for sale. Their profit is made by collecting from many crofters, sometimes fattening the cattle on the drive and then selling large heads for a greater sum than one familly might gain for few. Rumours that reiving occurs on a drove where the cattle of others 'not paying attention' to their livestock is wholly without grounds.
